Teaching and Learning Programme - Subject Learning Coaches

About Subject Learning Coaches

The Programme

The Teaching and Learning Programme (TLP), which incorporates the Subject Learning Coaches (SLCs) Programme, is a unique approach for organisations from across the learning and skills sector to transform teaching, training and learning.

Already, it is increasing learner motivation, improving retention, enhancing success and boosting teacher/trainer morale. Such impact is occurring in both leading-edge organisations and those with further to travel.

At the heart of the programme is the SLC, the pivotal agent for change who, with the support of managers, releases the potential of existing staff to embed elements of the programme.

A new professional training programme has been introduced called the Advanced Learning Coach (ALC) training programme. This new initiative builds on the previous Subject Learning Coach (SLC) facilitator programme and is aimed at those who have already completed their SLC training and wish to train others to become SLCs in their own organisation.

The programme offers three enablers designed to work together, creating a clear impact where it matters most - supporting you to deliver learner success. The three enablers are: the teaching and learning resources; subject coaching networks; and the Professional Training Programme (PTP) for those that will train SLCs in their locality.

The Teaching and learning programme is funded by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS).

The subject coaching networks, teaching and learning resources and PTP are delivered by Nord Anglia Education Ltd. These are all free to LSC-funded organizations who deliver post-16 education and training.
