Advanced Learning Coach Professional Training Programme

The Advanced Learning Coach (ALC) Training Programme is a new initiative, which builds on the previous SLC Facilitator Programme. It is aimed at those who would like to develop their skills further.

The Programme is for those who have already completed their Subject Learning Coach (SLC) training and wish to train others to become SLCs in their own organisation. For more information about the ALC Programme click here.

Spring and Summer Networks

These events are for SLCs in the following subject areas:

  • Adult education
  • Business education
  • Construction and the built environment
  • Entry to employment /Foundation learning tier
  • Society, health and development
  • IT
  • Land-based studies
  • Modern foreign languages
  • Creative and media

There will be coaching networks for existing SLCs, colleagues considering becoming SLCs and anyone else interested in joining the programme. All activities will support the Institute for Learning (IfL) continuing professional development (CPD) requirement and certificates of attendance will be available.
During the Spring and Summer, SLCs will become increasingly involved in the development and facilitation of networks and will use the events to showcase their own materials and launch LSIS resources.

The Spring network events are scheduled to take place between 2nd March and 3rd April. The Summer events will follow and are scheduled to take place between 15th June and 10th July.

Manager Engagement: Coaching Counts for Managers

This programme of events is designed to facilitate the development of a whole organisational approach to coaching, in order to promote organisational improvement.

The Spring Manager Engagement network events are scheduled to take place between 2nd March and 3rd April. The Summer events will follow and are scheduled to take place between 15th June and 10th July.

Science networks

These networks will continue our work with SLCs in promoting active learning and will be looking at the next series of Action Research projects and larger Whole Organisation funding opportunities.

Engineering networks

These networks will continue our work with SLCs in promoting active learning and will be looking at the next series of Action Research projects and larger Whole Organisation funding opportunities.

Mathematics networks

At the Mathematics networks, we will be focussing as usual on the promotion of active teaching and learning approaches through sharing successful classroom experiences and effective resources. Also included will be an update on the support available from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) including funding for practitioner action research projects and distribution of the latest resources from LSIS (formerly QIA and CEL).
